How long do I have to keep the heat lamp on?

I have 5 Bronze turkey poults.  They were born September 4 under their mom in the snow!  I have them inside with a heat lamp.  How long until they can handle room temperature and I can turn off the heat lamp?

When can they head outside to the barn?

Sue

If their outsides are a nice crispy brown, it has been on a little too long.  :smturkey:  :letseat:

Life is too short to not raise chickens.
And turkeys too!

Re: How long do I have to keep the heat lamp on?

Hi Sue

The heat lamp can be turned off anytime now if they are in room temp conditions. Depending on how cold the barn is I would keep them inside for another week or so or if you can wean them off in the barn with a heat lamp it would be better so they can become aclimatized. That is an amazingly late hatch. Best of Luck
