Oh woot! I was wondering when I'd hear that you got them. I hope they arrive in one piece!!

I've got an extra set of the Quail egg racks for the Hova bator turner, all trades considered.

I just got the quail eggs!!!!!
And I have to say, I was AMAZED at the quality of the shipping.
1st thing is that they came from emily to me in 3 days.
Anyway, all the eggs came in one peice and they where not even cold!
Here is a picture of the package-took me 20 minutes to unwrap them all without damaging them!

the mess
Each egg was wrapped in Tissue and bubble wrap separately.
Very nice job emily-I am so happy! I set 8 of the eggs now and I am letting the rest sit for a day or 2. I can't even candle to see if the airsacs are good

I hope you get a good hatch Dom, I am getting eggs from emily too.

YAY, Dom! I'm glad they all arrived in good condition! I hope you get a good hatch!
I will say that that I've never been able to candle quail eggs to check the air sac. I find that around day 10 I can candle them and if they are dark, they are growing, if they glow brightly they are empty...otherwise, candling quail eggs is almost useless unless you're skilled. :)

Wow I just love the colors of those eggs. Keep us posted on the hatching you guys, I am living through you right now..
But my exchequers and BLRW are each giving me an egg a day ( not so good since they are breeding pens of 6-8) but at least I will have something to curb my hatching desires soon.....
That looks like an excellent idea of packaging, I am definately going to ship that way from now on.

Oooh, BLRW? Nice! I hope they start laying for you (then they can start laying for me
)
I will have to see if there is a way to candle them-I don't like to set eggs without checking the airsac. I lost a whole hatch due to bad airsacs (and me not knowing it).
Well, I guess I'll see how they do!

I've heard it said that quail will hatch dispite our best efforts! LOL! They rely on humidity the most, and can handle small variations in temperature and turning. I've heard of people who don't turn at all and get reasonable hatches from quail. I turn mine 5-7 times a day...whenever I'm walking past the 'bator (hehe, walking past, it's in the farthest corner of the basement...I have to GO).
