Great assortment! Those golden polish are stunning, the amerucana roo is very handsome, too bad you are so far away or we could set him up on a date with my gal .... oh how I would love to hatch eggs (but would need help...no roosters allowed here.)
The old english game birds are very cool looking....are they difficult to take care of?
And why are the guinees creeps?

Sue-I just find it very easy to use. Of course it doesn't compare to a brinsea or anything, but for the $200 I payed for it, it is well worth it.
I like the Electric thermostat in it most though. I hand turn-and when I open it, it loses heat fast, but it regains it a lot faster. The thermostat superheats it to get it back up-then cools it down.
It is nice-way easier than any of the adjustable ones.
And this is my first hatch I am working on, and so far...no fatalities, oh, and the humidity is really easy to control too with the fan.
Brook-I am not sure if the ameruacana is a rooster...do you mean the Faverolle? The 1 ameruacana I have is still a chick...might be a rooster, i'm just to lazy to sex them
I just have my OEGBs with my chicks. Under a heat lamp. They haven't been any problem, but I will need to figure something out for a breeding pen!
And guineas, are just eerie...ever had any? They make weird sounds and always stalk around like a reptilian.
Thanks

Dom you should be able to sex the orpingtons by their combs, if they have a comb starting to look large it is a male, if not most likely a female. I have been fooled by late bloomers before but usually it is pretty good to judge by this age. Same with your ameraucana's, the males should have a redder more pronounced pea comb and the girls really not showing much of a comb yet.
As for sex linking the ducks I am not sure? I think you would need a solid black drake on a brown hen? I have not done it before but Cbrookkelly did, but it was black on brown not dark brown on brown?
Also I think the rooster in question is your red EE rooster.

Hmmm, then I guess one might just be a big hen because their combs are almost identical (small)
I think I got a lot of Ameruacana roosters then-I will take a closer look.
As for muscovies-I thought it might works since he is such a dark guy, I should find a black pair now.
Ok, the EE rooster makes sense then-yes he is very pretty (a little perverted though!)

Ok, just tried my hand at sexing them.
It looks like I have
1 pair of Silver Ameruacanas
3 Patridge ameruacan hens
trio of Barred rocks (which I don't really need since i have an adult trio)
1 Buff Polish hen
The difference in the Buff Orps comb was very minimal. One had almost no comb and the other had a small one...I'm guessing pair.
No idea about guineas
So if anyone wants to trade a pair of Buff laced Polish for a pair of Barred rocks, let me know! Or if anyone wants to trade a Patridge Amuacana hen for something for a rooster or something else.
Oh, and I have NO idea about silkies...how do you sex them anyway?

Incubating can be simple-the most important thing is accurate thermometer and hydrometer.
What I like to do is leave some room in my incubator and put the water up there. I can monitor it a lot better then when it is below all the eggs and or turner. I have a large pan of water and i keep a piece of plastic in there to cover up the extra water. it is much more accurate.
The genesis has the auto thermostat too, so it is really simple. This is my first time using it and I have had no deaths and today is day 17.
It is very simple, incubating is fun, not something you should be afraid of. It can be heartbreaking, but more often than not, it is very rewarding.
