Re: Offical Lore

The Rise of the Humans & Imperion Empire
The rise of the humans was circa 500 years ago.  At first, they were unciviled and unogranized, with small clans and tribes scattered everywhere.  One particular clan, the Imperions, starting gaining power.  They were the first to discover fire and find out how to make armor.  With that, they conquered other tribes and grew immensly.  At last, the remaining tribes formed a treaty with the Imperions.  The Imperions then built their city near the Tereon Waterfront, north of the elven city, about 200 years ago.  About 100 years ago, their leader, the Imperion, went missing.  Since then, the Elder Council has ruled the city successfully, still searching for the missing leader.  The city has flurished with a population of over 10,000.  Very recently, a few months ago, the 2nd Legion, a division of the imperion army, made a discoverery.  A lost letter deep in a cavern, wrote by the Imperion.  It leads them deep under the sewers to the subterrane then the caverns deep below the city.  Expeditions have been sent down and have never come up.

Re: Offical Lore

The Elven Race
These are a majestic people, taller than humans and much more skilled in the magic arts.  They generally have pointed ears, though some do not.
They've existed since the rise of the humans and Imperion Empire, about 500 years ago.  They first made their presence when they discovered the ancient book "The Codex of Eternity".  This book gave them immense magical power and nearly made them immortal.  Recently, the book was stolen by the Shadow Lord and the elves have dwindled.  They are still very skilled in magic, but they are no longer near immortal.  They live in a city made of pure white stone with golden lamps and colorful buildings.  Their city is surrounded by a solid wall, always patrolled by their battlemagi and elite dragoons.  They welcome anyone who does not wish to fight into their city.  The city streets are patrolled by peacekeepers and bruisers, attacking all who try to fight.  They participated in the Great Civil War, where the citizens of all imperion nations rose up and stood against the Imperion.  They have shaped the world in ways unknown even to them.  Their leader, Archmagi Tereon, is a great one and has lead them for their entire timeline.  He is said to be 500 years old, but he can shapeshift.

Re: Offical Lore

The Goblins
A long time ago when humans were beggining to develop a seperate group was banished to the forests, after many years they had shortened to duck under trees and turned green for camoflage, they also lived for many more years by eating of special fruits in the forest.

One day the goblins heard a noise and thought it was a snake they shared the forest with, but as they inspected closer they saw a tall version of themselves with white-pink skin, at first they didn't know what this creature was, until it spoke, the words were like their words and they quickly found out that these were the descendants of the humans that banished them to the forests.

They followed these humans back secretly and found a giant wall with many humans in glittery uniforms around it.  Sneaking in, (being small and having darker skin, as well as hiding a lot helps when sneaking past stuff) they saw many tall wooden structures, like their trees except arranged into a cubish shape.

They saw a fight beginning across from where they were standing and saw the sharp metal that these humans used to kill. They knew right after that, that if these humans found out they were the banished group of humans, they would try and kill them, so taking this information back to the elder goblins, they started training to attack these humans before it's to late.

At first the goblins were pushed back by the advanced weaponry and tactics, but once they learned how to overcome these disavantages their numbers gave them an advantage and they quickly started spreading.

This lasted until an elite group of humans called the Imperion Elites started fighting back, showing the goblins that they were outmatched in skill, which caused them to flee. The humans chased them to the forests but were quickly pushed out by the goblins great ability to move around the forests.

The goblins still plot against the humans in their forests today.

Physical features: Goblins are small people with greenish skin

Re: Offical Lore

The Griffin Speices
The story also mentions some mysterious caves, currently inaccessible to humans and their allies.

Ancient, powerful creatures, the griffins live at the highest elevations of the land. But it has not always been this way. Long ago, the griffins flew over plains, prowled through forests, and mucked their way past marshes.

Then new races began to appear: the elves, the giants, the dragonkin, and finally, the humans. The entire land was changing. Many native species changed along with the land, but the griffins, being creatures that live for a long time and do not adapt well, were left far behind. The rise of the humans marked the end of the era of the griffins. Confused and angry, the ancient griffins were forced out of their homes. Sometimes it was intentional, but more often, just the expanding of a city took over their homes or used up their prey.

Despite all this confusion, a griffin was born, the first one to be born in over three decades. Villari, as she is called by the humans, was an unusually clever griffin with a tongue as sharp as her talons. She was also extremely proud of her race, and was horrified to see them scattered across the land. Villari had heard stories from her elders about the era of the griffins, and was determined to restore them to their former splendor. She gathered as many as she could find together, and with her small group, the storm-gray giffin set out to find a suitable place to live. For many years, they traveled across the land, their party growing as they encountered surviving griffins.

Finally, their search led them to a snowy basin high in the mountains. The many rivers of the area had carved breathtaking, magnificent caves, which captured the attention of the most inquisitive griffins. The rest of the party, despite their misgivings about living in such a barren place, was soon drawn to the caves as well. Upon exploring the area, they found that there was no end of rabbits, mountain goats, and other such animals. It was a perfect place for the griffins to begin a new age.

Now, a few hundred years later, the griffins are beginning to increase their population. They usually still stick to the mountains, but some adventurers claim to have seen them in the low foothills. It is hoped that they will begin to trade with the other intelligent species of the land, and allow travel through their territories. However, the griffins have not yet decided whether they are friendly or hostile towards elves and humans, considering their past.

As for Villari, after leading her fellow griffins to safety, she vanished from history. Given the longevity of her species, she could very well still be alive, but she may have died years ago. Whether she is alive or dead, every griffin in the mountain city of Viyar honors her intrepidness.

Description of griffins: Griffins are slightly larger than large male lions. Their fur can be any color from black to brown to chestnut red, although they are usually some shade of brown.

(I wrote this with DragonSpirit.)

Re: Offical Lore

The Phoenix & Ardikka
Many millennia ago, when the earth was young, and man had never stepped upon its surface, there dwelled many other fair races. Of those, the Phoenixes where of the least. In those days, war was afoot. A terrible war of good and evil, foul and fair, lauded and detestable. It all began when the abhorrent lord of darkness, Ardikka, mustered the evil creatures from the roots of the mountains of old. He proceeded to fashion for himself a throne of black Merrid stone and enslaved many, forcing them to toil in hopelessness in the dreary caves of the mountains. And thus, his black army grew, driven on by one dark purpose, to shackle the free world under the feet of Ardikka their master.

The fair races realized far to late what was happening. Soon Ardikka cover half of the populated realm with his shadow. The light struggled hopelessly for years, until only one stronghold remained, the great castle of Hemmiren in the valley of the mountains which is now called Arkanum. Even with many valiant weapons such as the crystal sword of the goblins, reforaged in the light, their futile efforts waned with their strength. They knew that without aid, they where destined to fall.

But the great prophecy could not go awry. This one thing gave then hope. Far away, near the secret dwellings of the few phoenixes that remained alive, a stranger from a long time away, met an ill fate. Weary, and disoriented, the stranger fell, and was taken prisoner of a band of goblins.

The nearby phoenix scouts sensed the stranger’s distress, although they did not know who the stranger was, nor what odd race the stranger belonged to. Nonetheless, the took the stranger in and cared for the stranger, christening the stranger “garn,” which means alien in the ancient tong. When Garn had regained his strength, he vowed to repay them. However, they did not need his strength. Instead, they sought wisdom, and so he taught the most valuable thing he knew to them.

Many Phoenixes where trained in this art. Soon a small army had been trained. Garn implored to the Phoenix master to aid in the struggle between Ardikka and the remaining free world. Their friendship had grown strong. The master gravely obliged.  Soon the portion of prophecy was completed, but not without death and turmoil. Many phoenixes lost their lives. However, soon the ravages a war where over and the phoenixes became one of the most prosperous races.

Unfortunately, it was not long until evil arose again. Fenmar, of the lineage of Ardikka craved his father’s throne. He posed as an ally to the light. Much the phoenixes’ wariness had been quenched with victory. Fenmar became very respected and highly ranked. He eventually stole the secret. War immediately ensued. Fueled by hatred, the armies of darkness reemerged. Fenmar reforaged the dark throne of Ardikka. He wrote the secret knowledge on a parchment, and guarded it more than he even guarded himself.

Once again, the phoenixes where nearly destroyed, except for a select few, forever to be renowned heroes who gave their lives freely to defeat evil. Fenmar was overthrow and destroyed. Thereafter, The race of the phoenixes vowed never to make the same mistake again.

In his greed and lust for power, Fenmar had never taught the secret knowledge to anyone else. Being the only remaining trace of it, the parchment was madly sought for by both evil and good. Eventually, it disappeared from almost all thought and knowledge. As it is today.

The memory of it only remains vaguely in the minds of the most learned lore masters. On that parchment, the instructions of the secret knowledge where written in the ancient tongue. Instructions that would teach one the ability to bend space and time. The power of this knowledge lay in its simplicity and utter complexity. The simplest could learn this ability, and with practice, master it.

Re: Offical Lore

The Phoenix Bow
To have this bow is a sign of great evil, for it can only be obtained by killing a phoenix. It is a powerful weapon, for it is imbued with the strength of the phoenix’s dying anger.

The first known person to posses a phoenix bow was an elf by the name of Fillan. He was young, by elf standards, and had grown up during a horrible tribe war. His whole life, he had seen his family and his friends being horribly killed by a large clan of giants. He had done nothing but fight for years. He vaguely remembered peace, from his earliest childhood, but the happiness of those memories had been blurred by the anger and sorrow he felt at loosing his family.

After years of fighting, though, the elves were prevailing. The giants had been driven back. After a particular long and horrible battle, it appeared that the elves had won. They celebrated for weeks on end, but one day, in the middle of their festivities, the giants reappeared. They had gained the support of dozens of griffins, and with this new power, obliterated Fillan’s entire clan. Stricken with grief, and dreadfully wounded, Fillan fled to the thickest part of the forest, where he waited and recovered.

Then, a year later, he set out to avenge his clan. He killed giant after giant, his determination lending him great power. He made no distinction between tribes, and more often than not, the giants he killed were innocent of murdering elves. One day, he attacked a group of very young giants playing near a stream. A phoenix, seeing this, decided to put an end to the matter. He flew to protect the children, but Fillan saw him coming. With a sudden burst of rage, cast a spell that not only killed the phoenix, but trapped the fire of the phoenix’s life inside his bow. The bow became fiery, and very powerful, but Fillan never could clear his ears of the echo of the phoenix’s dying screech.

Re: Offical Lore

The Forgotten Titans
The Titans were the makers of the entire Xeraeon planet. (the planet this game takes on)  They were the first to walk upon their land.  They were a peaceful, kind people, holding power beyond imagination.  They created many races, one of which the humans evolved from.  The Imperion Historical Society states this planet was made 2,000,000 years ago, and the Titans have all left.  Even though they are gone, they still have a presence.  They have an underground city called Arceon, guarded by their minions.  In this city lies the Vault of Secrets, the vault thought to hold every secret to everything on Xeraeon.  It also holds an artifact that gives the bearer invulnerability.  It is guarded by the avatar of the titan Arcomen, the leader of the Titans.  Recently, the Imperion Historical Society has been searching for this city after ruined titan buildings and weapons were found by the Imperion Expedition while searching for the king underground.  The finds were corrupted with a mystic force of pure evil.  The society and the council believe the missing king is somehow linked with this pure evil, and fear the titan city may have been corrupted by it....
