I have recently acquired the site MyPunBB from its previous owner and I am in the process of migrating the data over to PunBB-Hosting. There may be some slight downtime involved for PunBB-Hosting (so the data can be loaded more quickly into the system). I'll update this post with the progress of the migration.

Currently: All data should be migrated.

Note: The following two languages, which were supported by MyPunBB, are not supported by PunBB-Hosting: Arabic, Hebrew. These language packs were used by very few users/forums and adding support for them is not feasible. If your forum uses these language packs or any of your users use these language packs, please let me know so I can reset them to English.

Note: MyPunBB's language packs used a variety of encodings, not a consistent UTF-8. As a result, some data may appear missing or "garbled" due to the conversion process. I can attempt to fix this on a per-forum basis if I am told about the issue. Use this topic or the Problems and Questions forum to let me know.

Note: Certain MyPunBB forums appear to have large post counts caused entirely by spam posts. I've tried to trim the spam posts from the largest forums and this will result in those forums having inconsistent post counts. Post counts can be updated using the Forum cleanup plugin.

Note: All forums imported from MyPunBB will need to have their search indexes rebuilt. This can be done via the Administration section of the site, under Maintenance.

All forum data is migrated at the current time. Redirects are currently in place and all transferred forums should be up and running.

Avatars and templates will be imported on an opt-in basis: that means that a forum administrator should contact me with the name of the forum to indicate that they would like avatars and templates to be transferred.

If anything is not working right, the forum administrators should let me know, either here or via email (smartys at punbb-hosting.com)

No, this has no impact on existing PunBB-Hosting forums (except for a few more styles).

Greetings,

I am the current head admin of the Legend Arena external forum. We used to be on the legendarena.mypunbb.com adress, but were pretty much forced to move because of the countless downtime issues and Connor hardly ever being around to fix things. Now, the current forum doesn't deliver nearly as many features I as admin need as the old mypunbb forum does. So, a move sounds very enticing.

As such, we would like to know if there is a way to get rid of the addvertising spree you've unleashed on our old forum. We don't mind a little bit of advertising, but some of the stuff you've added is a bit too much for our taste. I've searched around this forum a bit and the posts I could really find regarding this were at least over a year old.

I hope to hear an answer soon.

Generally, I can say the following about our advertising:
- PunBB-Hosting puts Google Adsense ads in the header and after the first post.
- This advertising can be disabled for all logged in users via the administration panel.
- The advertising is much less intrusive than what MyPunBB had (random words highlighted with rollover ads, lots of virus filled popups, etc). In fact, I'm not sure why you feel it's "a bit too much."
- It is possible to pay to remove advertisements (that feature will be more prominent once the new version of the site comes out, along with the "root administrator" control panel)
