Woah!! Awesome!
Steve Perry, Ann Wilson, Eva Cassidy - ALL AMAZING!
I have to say I have always loved Roger Waters too!
But Sam Cooke is glorious in many ways.
Speaking of glorious, MAHALIA JACKSON in God's gift to the world!!!!
Oh, and who knows Randy Jackson of Zebra? Making You The Fool is unbelievable!
Hey, Ale. Remember our Steve Perry Mother Father discussion? Well, Making You The Fool is my Randy Jackson fave!
Here's a Top 10 but it most definitely NOT set in stone:
1. Mahalia Jackson
2. Randy Jackson
3. Sam Cooke
4. Steve Perry
5. Luciano Pavarotti
6. Joni Mitchell
7. Aretha Franklin
8. Martin Sexton
9. Bruce Dickinson
10. Bono
Thats so funny Janene my first show with TRITON was opening for Zebra at Studio One in N.J. I felt bad for them as 98% of the crowd was there for us and left and/or followed us to the Lounge Area /bar. They were left with about 40 people. When we realized what was going on we usher everyone back in around the third song. Zebra was in decline in the USA by 89, but they were a great pack of guys and had a very cool attitude towards an opening act allowing us in the main dressing room to hang and came into our dressing room to toast our first gig as Triton. Your bringing back memories kid lol

The Mighty mighty mighty Randy Jackson.....
I also have the cd's of his band THE ISGN with Mark Mangold on keyboards and Bobby Rondinelli on drums..
Even if Steve Perry was the king of AOR I still like Randy Jackson, Rik Emmett and all the other great melodic singers..

Ok i'm a little late to this, and I loooove all the encouragement in the middle of this forum, but i got to say that the best singers for me come for the GOSPEL scene and many of the singers listed above are either ex church singers or are trying to imitate the black singing style. oh oh i said something controversial!!!
So my contribution to the names already listed are:
Tonex (Justin couldn't stand in the same room as this gospel artist when it comes to vocals
)
Fantasia
Pattie Labelle
Martha Munuzzi
The Clark Sisters (OK, this is a group, but it makes no sense separating them as their vocals are equal)
La Shun Pace
Beyonce
Vickie Winans
You now can also add:
Adam Lambert (American Idol)
The Black Guy (dressed as a women with blond hair) on the America's got talent who sings soprano. (sorry can't remember his name as i type)
Most of them are unmatched for technicality, power and dynamics.
Dionne
