is there a seperate dvd drive i can get for the xbox360 so i dont have to chip. or flash my xbox. i swear i saw 1 before. if there is how do i use it. just plug it in the usb port and im away?

No such thing, you HAVE to flash the drive in order to play backups, there is no other way. If you believe there is, that's your deal, and you will have to learn the hard way. PS2 had a USB dongle/chip, not the XB360, ever...
Now, you can buy another one JUST LIKE YOURS, and flash it with your drive's KEY. Then you have two DVD drives, one that is modded, one that is NOT. So, if you have a Hitachi 79FK, then you MUST get another hitachi, the same model# with firmware 79FK. So, when I say JUST LIKE YOURS, I mean; make, model, and firmware revision must be a 100% match.
OR, you can get a CHIP and install a switch to turn it off and on.
